Ah yes, the albums that I actually listened to, but never got around to reviewing. These albums aren't "not good enough for a full review" but just albums I've been putting off reviewing... for some reason.
Capital Cities- In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery (2013)
I've listened to bits and pieces of this album here and there but never really sat down and listened to the full thing until recently. This album slaps, and there are a lot of bangers here such as Kangaroo Court, I Sold My Bed, Farrah Fawcett Hair with Andre 3k, to even some of the ones on the back end like the really breezy and really nice Love Away. Even though these songs have infectious melodies and hooks, they get old really quickly making the replay value on this very high but only for like a week. It's a good record to just turn on to see what else they have besides from that Safe and Sound song, speaking of which, it would've been greatly appreciated if that wasn't the opening song, but the entire thing as a whole doesn't have a long lasting effect like I want it to be.
Lindsey Stirling- Brave Enough (2016)
I don't know why but I just never listened to this album from front to back. I think to my middle school self a full hour was a bit much, but whatever. I gotta say, someone pointed out it has a "cold to warm" effect and I can definitely see it, but my main criticism about it is the fact that it is cold to warm. The songs on the front half of this record absolutely suck. They all follow a boring dynamic and it got old by song 5. Thankfully it picks up right around Prism but if it only had songs from Prism to Gavi's Song, then it would've been a banging record. It's just meh overall.
DNCE- DNCE (2016)
Probably the best on this list. It doesn't waste time, it's such a fun record and I highly recommend it. At points it does get a little bit too loud, and it just sounds like noise, but besides from those rare moments, we also get the two palette cleansers which i guess sort of give you a break from the craziness, so i kinda don't mind them. Overall, pretty solid, give it a listen if you want to just listen to a bunch of fun songs... that are about sex... a lot of sex...
Kero Kero Bonito- Bonito Generation (2016)
This is a strange one for me. I know melon man loves this record, however, for me, it was kinda difficult getting through this. There were a few slappers on here, especially Trampoline, Waking Up and Lipslap, however, to me, these songs feel a little too polished and clean. Is that... is that a criticism? I mean, it's alright, but it definitely is not for me and I don't see myself getting into this kind of stuff because a lot of the tracks on here just really don't stick the landing as much as I wanted them to.
Joji- Nectar
I mean, yeah. This definitely is a record. A record that goes on for too long. Same thing I had with Brave Enough where the beginning really could've been better but the final tracks on here are actually something special, even the Lil Yachty feature, which caught me off guard, I actually loved. It's cool to turn on and vibe to but for casual listening, I don't see myself coming back to this
And that was it, I am open for requests, so if you want, you can go drop something in the forum or just... tell me. I'm too unprofessional to be like "my schedule is booked" plus this was a boring month in terms of new music.
