Being a fan of Beach Bunny for almost year, I was extremely excited for this release. I love how they're going in a different direction, this time with a lot more anger lead songs about toxic masculinity, perverts and just relationships that just don't work out. It was a big left turn from their debut album, Honeymoon that dropped last year, which, for the most part, takes the perspective of an obsessive lover who really just wants to have someone to love them. One of the things I can really appreciate about Honeymoon is the fact that it actually has a happy ending. With an overwhelming amount of albums these days just have a slow song and make that the closing moment, but the sequencing in that album is very unique, opening with a breakup song and then immediately going into a song called "Cuffing Season". I bring this all up because Blame Game is just a collection of angry songs.

That certainly isn't a bad thing, it still is a really solid EP, however, this could easily be put on shuffle and the experience wouldn't change one bit. This project is consistent, has a purpose to fulfill and a point to make. While many songs about how men are the worst creatures alive like to shove it in your face with corny lyrics in a painfully boring ballad, the band really knows how to make bangers off of these topics while sticking with the themes, because yes, all of these songs need to be said in a day and age like today, so let's take a look at some of them.

Track 1: Good Girls (Don't Get Used)

I really hope you can guess what this song is about. This is a pretty solid opener which very quickly transports you into this world of nothing but angst. It's a Beach Bunny track alright. One note: I dont know, maybe it's just the delivery but i really hate the line "when you're bored or your hOrny". It just rubbed me the wrong way

Track 2: Love Sick

Yeah my favoruite in the entire tracklist. One thing you can always count on with Beach Bunny songs is how all their songs just immediately start and they give you no time to breathe. I love the instrumental section after the chorus, I love the instrumentation in the verses, It's really smooth and clean and it's just a really nice song to listen to, reminds me a lot of their other song "Colorblind". The last leg of the song really is a nice climax and it pays off super well.

Track 3: Nice Guys

A slower song to make things more intere- oh nevermind. The lyrical content is actually pretty compelling, highlighting fake faces in relationships and how relationships really thrive on love and not motivation for anything. It's mature and that is such a great look on them.

Track 4: Blame Game

In my opinion, this is the true climax and big message that Lili and the guys want you to leave with. You are supposed to take something away from this song and the music video really highlights that so well. In the simplest of terms, you shouldn't say "cover up when uncle randy is coming over" but instead say "uncle randy shouldn't come over anymore". It's really a great note to go out on and it ties everything up in the perfect bow. The fade ending really just hits for some reason

Overall, a very quick burst of energy. In my opinion, it goes out almost too quick, however I would rather take 4 really good songs than 5 pretty alright ones. It's a great and almost unexpected follow up to Honeymoon and I would recommend it if you're in the mood to speak to the manager of men. Besides from that, there really isn't much else to say. It met my expectations and that's pretty much it.

6/10
